Raw Veg Boosts Brain Power

I've never been a lover of raw vegetables. I give the crudities, passed around at a party with a range of dips, a wide berth. However, I might have to re-think my life without those crunchy little carrots, celery and radishes. Tucking into raw vegetables can boost your brain power, according to some new research and we could all do with upping that power!

Experts at the University of Otago in New Zealand have said that raw fruit and vegetables are better for mental health than those which are cooked, tinned or processed. Dr Tamin Conner, a psychologist at the University, is reported as saying that health campaigners traditionally focus on the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables we eat every day, such as our 'five a day'. However, the New Zealand study, published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology, has found that, for mental health in particular, the way food is prepared and consumed is also very important.

Pass me that raw carrot, please, a future Einstein is coming through!
