Birmingham's Food Festival

The CBD Food Festival is back for the fourth year this weekend. The two day festival showcases and celebrates the excellent food and drink offering in Birmingham's commercial quarter, Colmore Business District (CBD). Taking place in Victoria Square on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th July from 11.00am to 7.00pm, 24 venues from the business district will serve tasters of signature menu items, ranging from £1.50 to £5.

It is the only food festival in Birmingham city centre where all participants are local businesses with premises within a 10 minute walk of the event location. Participating venues include a superb array of restaurants, pubs, bars, coffee shops, bakeries and delis. This year's festival includes new venues which have opened in the area in the last year, including contemporary Indian restaurant Isaacs, bar and deli The Bureau, oriental restaurant Chung Ying Central and craft beer and food experts, Pure Bar & Kitchen. The festival will also see the return of venues that have participated since the pilot festival in 2011, including the Michelin starred Purnell's Restaurant (above), independent coffee shop Urban Coffee Company, The Old Joint Stock Pub & Theatre, Hotel du Vin, and market fresh restaurant, Opus at Cornwall Street (below).

There will also be a great entertainment programme at the festival including cookery and drink making demonstrations from top chefs, baristas and mixologists in the District. There will be plenty of outdoor theatre as well as a magician to entertain visitors. This year's festival will also see performances from the Youth Theatre of The Birmingham Repertory Theatre. Colmore Chorus, CBD's choir of local business people, will be back to perform at the festival. There will also be plenty of live music for visitors to sit back and enjoy on CBD deckchairs, courtesy of Colmore BID's participation in the Birmingham International Jazz & Blues Festival.
