SHEFFIELD FOOD FESTIVAL 23-25 May
Get this date in your diary if you are a real food lover - Sheffield Food Festival is a great
family day out.
Spring
heralds a culinary explosion of fresh produce, colour and taste for producers
and chefs alike, which will once again be celebrated at Sheffield’s fifth
annual food festival.
This free
urban food and drink event sprawls across the heart of the Steel City Centre
from Saturday 23rd – Monday 25th of May – the perfect way to spend the bank
holiday weekend with friends and family.
Eat, Drink and Shop all weekend - the 2015′s
festival promises to be tastier than ever with a full artisan food market and
tempting street food traders. Budding chefs and novices alike can find
inspiration in the festival demo tent, where professional local chefs will
demonstrate their skills, followed by chances to taste their creations. And
don’t miss BBC Radio Sheffield’s laugh-a-minute Ready, Steady, Cook!
competitions each day, pitting presenters and chefs against each other in fast
paced cooking battles.
Head down
to the Whirlow Hall Farm pop-up farmyard and lounge amongst the hay bales while
the kids listen to BBC Radio Sheffield presenters reading The Little Red Hen. Children
can also participate in mini pizza making and wok cooking demos then jump on a
smoothie bike with school food provider Taylor Shaw. An oinking good time can
also be had with Ladies in Pigs who will deliver kids’ activities and no less
than seven different pork recipe tasting sessions each day.
Adults can wash it all down with a trip to the Peace Gardens’ mini
beer festival, curated by the Sheffield Breweries Cooperative and carry on into
the evening with live musical entertainment.
With a
further array of events, demos and activities taking place across the whole
weekend this is a great family day out not to be missed.
