Taste of Shetland

Are you watching the latest detective series 'Shetland' on BBC TV? It was the penultimate episode on Tuesday, and I can't wait to find out next week who did it! If you're not into crime programmes then Shetland is just so much more - the scenery and landscape of this Scottish island is breathtaking and between the storyline, you get an extravaganza of aerial views across lochs, glens, forests and mountains, as the detective drives across the island. However, Shetland, the place and not the series, has some of the top food products in the UK and food and drink lovers can now track them down in this northernmost part of the UK.

Via an interactive map, you can find out about Shetland producers who are making everything from air-dried salt fish and fine chocolate to Viking mead and local gin flavoured with island botanicals, such as a range of seaweed. A variety of bakes, as well as cookbooks and butter are available online. Shetland Food and Drink Company want their 'Taste of Shetland' to be an online hub for everyone throughout the UK and beyond, and this includes anyone considering a holiday in this beautiful part of Scotland. What about visiting for the Taste of Shetland Festival in October 2018.
