McDonalds - Eat As Much As You Like!

I am always interested in news coming out of the fast-food giant McDonald's and so I was intrigued by their latest announcement. It seems that burger-lovers in the town of St. Joseph in Missouri, USA, will soon be getting a real treat, with the opening of a new 6,500-square-foot branch boasting all manner of offerings we won't find at our local high street McDonald's for a few years at least. But I've heard that before and then next week, the floodgates will open and we will all get the new McDonald treat. Remember the promise of electronic ordering at the door? Well, I went into a McDonald's in Liverpool last week and there were queues of customers waiting to order at the computerised order-points at the entrance. And they were expecting to be served at their table too!

The innovation that's getting  most interest at the new Missouri store, so far, is the promise of bottomless french fries - order once, and you'll be able to eat as many as you like!  The new restaurant will also be inviting visitors to customise their burger or desert orders - and like an increasing number of McDonald's there'll be no more waiting around at the counter for your food.

“There really are hundreds of different choices to build the burger of your dreams,” said franchisee Chris Habiger. “Once you’ve placed your order, you can find your seat because we’ll bring it out to you.”

The St. Joseph restaurant will have a modern play area for children featuring interactive light board tables and tabletop video games. There will also be a "party room" available for hire, digital kiosks for placing your food order, and comfy couches and arm chairs for "casual dining".

“Today’s customers seek a comfortable and inviting atmosphere,” said Chris Habiger, the franchisee building the McDonald’s, and reported in the St. Joseph News-Press. “So we’re committed to providing a modern look and feel to this restaurant.”

The restaurant is scheduled to open later this year, so watch out for 'eat as much as you like' at your local McDonald's in 2017 - adding to our already obese society!
