Feed Your Sleep

January seems to be the time when we think about diets, healthy eating and 'cutting-down' after the festive celebrations. Like everyone else, I'm trying to watch the calories and while I can just about reduce my intake during the daytime, when it comes to the end of the day, I am beginning to feel quite hungry. The temptation is to eat late - but that can affect your sleep. Eating the right food before bed could work wonders to help you get a better rest, but being tempted by spicy or fatty food could do the opposite.

Sleep experts recommend the following foods to help you get the full eight hours you need.
  • Bananas
  • Honey
  • Almonds
  • Oats
  • Turkey
Try avoiding foods such as those listed below, as they can often contribute to sleepless nights. Try to give your food the time to digest before you hit the hay to make sure you get the best night's sleep.
  • Alcohol
  • Spicy food
  • Fatty food
  • Coffee
  • Cheese
Sleep well!
