Morrisons Christmas Cheer

I don't know about you, but I really like checking-out at those self-scanning tills at the supermarket. If you do, then you are in for a treat this Christmas if you shop at Morrisons. No longer will you hear, 'unidentified object in the bagging area' as it will be replaced with 'unexpected cheer in the bagging area'.

Shopping at Christmas is stressful enough at the best of times and Morrisons could be about to make the experience a lot more trying if you hate those self-service tills - with its introduction of festive-themed tills. Complete with festive 'cheery' voice, the tills will wish you a happy Christmas and much more. Dubbed 'Festive Fred', the voice on the self-scan tills is programmed with phrases such as 'don't get your tinsel in a tangle, someone is coming to help', if you're struggling with unexpected items in the bagging area. Festive Fred will then send you on your way with an upbeat 'have yourself a very merry Christmas from Morrisons'.

To find the happiest voice for their tills, the supermarket giant analysed the speech of well-known figures including Brian Blessed, Terry Wogan, and even the Queen - before deciding to base it on the voice of my old Black Country mucker and former Slade frontman, Noddy Holder.

''Merrrrrrry Christmassss...!!!''
